Jacques Pepin: podcast appearances and interviews

Jacques Pépin, born December 18, 1935, is a French chef, author, culinary educator, television personality, and artist. He served as the personal chef to French president Charles de Gaulle before moving to the United States in 1959. In the US, he gained experience working in New York's top French restaurants and held a culinary development position with Howard Johnson's. Pépin has appeared on American television and authored over 30 cookbooks, many of which have achieved bestseller status. He was a longtime friend of the American chef Julia Child, and their collaboration on the 1999 PBS series Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home received a Daytime Emmy Award. Throughout his career, Pépin has received numerous accolades, including 16 James Beard Foundation Awards nominations and honors, the American Public Television lifetime achievement award, and the Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2019. In 2004, he was awarded France's highest order of merit, the Légion d'honneur. Since 1989, he has been involved in culinary education at Boston University and has served as dean of special programs at the International Culinary Center in New York City. In 2016, Pépin co-founded the Jacques Pépin Foundation with his daughter Claudine Pépin and son-in-law Rollie Wesen. The foundation focuses on creating culinary education opportunities, particularly for workforce development among adults facing barriers to employment. He has resided in Connecticut since 1975.
