How Pod Score Works
Pod Score is PitchCentric's primary ranking metric for podcast outreach prioritization. It combines five data signals into a single 0-100 number that reflects a podcast's value as a guest appearance target.
What is Pod Score?
Pod Score is a composite intelligence score computed for every podcast in PitchCentric's catalog. It ranks shows from 0 to 100, where higher scores indicate stronger candidate shows for guest outreach. Pod Score is not simply a measure of audience size; it weights booking-specific signals that determine whether a pitch is likely to succeed, not just whether a large audience exists.
The five components
Pod Score combines: Listen Score (32-point weight), which reflects audience reach on a normalized scale; Virality Score (26 points), which measures the podcast's current momentum and share-rate relative to its peers; Guest Openness (22 points), which reflects whether the host actively books guests based on historical episode patterns; Apple Rating (15 points), which incorporates the star rating as a proxy for audience quality and engagement; and Platform Presence (5 points), which reflects confirmed presence and distribution across Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts. Email reachability is treated as a pre-filter for outreach, not as a public ranking signal.
How often it updates
Pod Score recomputes every 2 hours for all podcasts that have had any signal update in the preceding 24 hours. The full catalog recomputes daily. You can see when each podcast's score was last updated in the platform.
What Pod Score does not measure
Pod Score does not measure topic fit for a specific guest. A score of 80 means the show is influential and well-positioned for guest outreach in general; it does not mean a specific guest will convert. Topic fit, guest-audience alignment, and the quality of the pitch itself all determine conversion from outreach to booking. Booking Probability accounts for these factors when combined with a guest profile.
Interpreting Pod Score tiers
90 to 99: Top 0.1% globally. Flagship shows. Extremely competitive guest queues. Reserve pitches for guests with specific, credentialed angles. 70 to 89: Top 1% globally. High-quality shows with selective booking. Strong pitches with specific episode references convert well. 50 to 69: Top 5% globally. Active guest pipelines. Well-crafted, targeted pitches have a solid conversion rate. 30 to 49: Accessible shows that are actively booking guests. Good starting point for guests building their media presence. Below 30: Early-stage or inactive shows where outreach risk is higher.
