Africa No Filter (ANF) is a non-profit advocacy organization established in May 2020, dedicated to challenging harmful stereotypes and misconceptions about Africa. It amplifies authentic stories from the continent and was founded through a collaboration of major donor organizations, including the Ford Foundation and the Open Society Foundations. In 2025, ANF became an independent, African-led entity registered in Mauritius. ANF's mission is to connect narrative change-makers in Africa by supporting storytellers and platforms that promote progressive narratives. The organization provides grants to artists, scholars, and media professionals, committing over US$7.5 million to the creative and media ecosystem. It also conducts research on the impact of stereotypical narratives and launched the news agency "bird" to focus on stories of creativity and culture. Through advocacy campaigns and collaborations, ANF works to reshape narratives about Africa, benefiting a wide range of creators and organizations across the continent and its diaspora.
