Joanna Coles: podcast appearances and interviews

Joanna Louise Coles, born on April 20, 1962, is the chief content officer for The Daily Beast. She has held this role since 2018, after serving as chief content officer for Hearst Magazines from 2016 to 2018. Coles began her career at The Spectator before moving to the United States in 1997, where she became bureau chief of The Guardian and later worked for The Times. In 2006, she joined Hearst as the editor-in-chief of Marie Claire magazine and subsequently held the same position at Cosmopolitan from 2012 until 2016.

Coles expanded her career into television by co-creating and executive producing the Style Network's Running in Heels. She has also served as a mentor on Lifetime's Project Runway: All-Stars and executive produced the E! reality series So Cosmo, in which she appeared on camera. Additionally, she is an executive producer for the scripted series The Bold Type, which airs on Freeform and Hulu. Besides her work in media and television, Coles is a member of several boards, including Snap, Sonos, Density Software, and Blue Mistral. She authored the book Love Rules, published by HarperCollins, which was optioned for television by ABC Signature and FX. In 2019, she signed a first-look deal with ABC Studios.
