Stacey Abrams: podcast appearances and interviews

Stacey Yvonne Abrams is an American politician, lawyer, voting rights activist, and author. She served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017, including a period as minority leader from 2011 to 2017. As a member of the Democratic Party, Abrams founded Fair Fight Action in 2018 to combat voter suppression. Her advocacy has been credited with increasing voter turnout in Georgia, notably during the 2020 presidential election, which contributed to Joe Biden's narrow victory in the state, and in the subsequent U.S. Senate elections that resulted in Democratic control of the Senate. Abrams was the Democratic nominee for Georgia governor in 2018, becoming the first African-American woman to secure a major-party gubernatorial nomination in the United States, though she narrowly lost to the Republican candidate. She was also the Democratic candidate in the 2022 Georgia gubernatorial election, again losing to Kemp. In February 2019, Abrams made history as the first African-American woman to deliver a response to the State of the Union address. She is an accomplished author of both fiction and nonfiction. Her nonfiction works, Our Time Is Now and Lead from the Outside, have been bestsellers. Under the pen name Selena Montgomery, she authored eight fiction books before 2021. Her novel Justice Sleeps was published on May 11, 2021, under her real name. In December 2021, Abrams published a children's book titled Stacey's Extraordinary Words.
