Jesse Adam Eisenberg, born on October 5, 1983, is an American actor, playwright, and filmmaker recognized for portraying intelligent yet socially awkward characters across various genres. He began his career on television with the comedy-drama series Get Real and made his film debut in Roger Dodger. Eisenberg gained prominence with performances in films such as The Squid and the Whale, Adventureland, and Zombieland. His role as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Beyond this, he has starred in Woody Allen films, including To Rome with Love and Café Society, as well as in the heist movies Now You See Me and its sequels. Eisenberg has also appeared as Lex Luthor in the DCEU films Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder's Justice League and provided the voice of Blu in the animated Rio films. In 2022, he starred in the FX/Hulu miniseries Fleishman Is in Trouble and made his directorial debut with When You Finish Saving the World. He further expanded his work behind the camera with the comedy-drama A Real Pain, which earned him a BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay and an Oscar nomination.
