Ari Aster: podcast appearances and interviews

Ari Aster is an American filmmaker born on July 15, 1986. He is known for creating films characterized by a disturbing blend of dark comedy, horror, and graphic violence. Aster gained initial recognition for the short horror film The Strange Thing About the Johnsons, which he wrote and directed as part of his studies at the AFI Conservatory in 2011. He became widely known for his horror feature films Hereditary in 2018 and Midsommar in 2019, which helped establish his reputation within the genre of elevated horror. In 2019, Aster co-founded the production company Square Peg with Danish producer Lars Knudsen. He later shifted away from horror to explore different genres, including the surrealist comedy-drama Beau Is Afraid (2023) and the satirical neo-Western thriller Eddington (2025). Both of these films received mixed reviews and did not recoup their budgets at the box office.
