Thomas Griffin Dunne, born on June 8, 1955, is an American actor, director, and producer. He has appeared in numerous films and television shows, earning nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award. Dunne is the eldest child of journalist Dominick Dunne and activist Ellen Beatriz. He studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre and made his film debut in The Other Side of the Mountain in 1975. Dunne is known for his roles in films such as An American Werewolf in London, where he played Jack Goodman, and Martin Scorsese's After Hours, portraying Paul Hackett; the latter earned him a Golden Globe nomination. His supporting roles include performances in My Girl, Straight Talk, Quiz Show, Dallas Buyers Club, The French Dispatch, and Caught Stealing. As a filmmaker, Dunne made his directorial debut with the short Duke of Groove, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. He directed his first feature film with Addicted to Love, followed by Practical Magic and The Accidental Husband. He also directed the Netflix documentary Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold. On television, Dunne guest-starred on Frasier, earning a Primetime Emmy nomination, and appeared in series such as House of Lies, I Love Dick, This Is Us, Goliath, and Only Murders in the Building.
