David Carr: podcast appearances and interviews

David Carr is a professor emeritus of philosophy at Emory University and is affiliated with the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Prior to his academic career, Carr was a professional football quarterback in the National Football League for 11 seasons. He played college football for the Fresno State Bulldogs, where he received notable accolades including the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 2001. In the 2002 NFL draft, he was selected first overall by the Houston Texans and was their inaugural draft pick. Carr spent the first five seasons of his NFL career as the Texans' starting quarterback, during which he set an NFL season record for sacks taken as a rookie, but he faced challenges with inconsistent performance. After his tenure with Houston, he served as a backup for teams including the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers, with whom he won Super Bowl XLVI. Following his playing career, Carr has been involved in coaching and broadcasting, including serving as the offensive coordinator at Bakersfield Christian High School and working as an analyst for NFL Network.
