Brianne Sidonie Desaulniers, known professionally as Brie Larson, is an American actress, singer, and filmmaker born on October 1, 1989. She began her acting career as a teenager with supporting roles in comedies and made her debut on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 1998. Larson was the youngest student admitted to a training program at the American Conservatory Theater at age six and also appeared as a regular on the sitcom Raising Dad from 2001 to 2002. She released a music album titled Finally Out of P.E. in 2005 and appeared in various films including Hoot, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and 21 Jump Street, as well as the television series United States of Tara. Her breakthrough came with the independent drama Short Term 12 in 2013, and she continued to build her career with roles in The Spectacular Now and Trainwreck. Larson gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of a kidnapping victim in the film Room in 2015, earning an Academy Award for Best Actress. She expanded into blockbuster films with Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and starred as Carol Danvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with Captain Marvel in 2019. She also starred in the miniseries Lessons in Chemistry in 2023, earning a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress.
