Andrew Scott Rannells, born on August 23, 1978, is an American actor renowned for his work on Broadway and in television. He is best known for originating the role of Elder Kevin Price in the 2011 Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, a performance that earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in 2012. Rannells received a second Tony nomination in 2017 for his role as Whizzer in the 2016 Broadway revival of Falsettos. His extensive Broadway credits also include performances in Hairspray, Jersey Boys, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Hamilton, The Boys in the Band, and Gutenberg! The Musical. Additionally, he was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for his performance in the off West End production of Tammy Faye. Transitioning into screen acting during the 2010s, Rannells starred in the NBC sitcom The New Normal and had a recurring role as Elijah in HBO's Girls from 2012 to 2017. More recently, he has starred in the Showtime series Black Monday beginning in 2019. His voice acting credits are numerous, including roles such as Matthew MacDell on Netflix's Big Mouth and William Clockwell on Amazon Prime's Invincible.
