Wesley Studi is a Cherokee actor and film producer born on December 17, 1947. He has received critical acclaim and numerous awards for his performances, particularly in roles portraying Native Americans. Studi has appeared in several notable films, including the Academy Award-winning Dances with Wolves and The Last of the Mohicans. He also starred in the Academy Award-nominated Geronimo: An American Legend and The New World. In addition to his work in film, he is known for playing the character Sagat in the film Street Fighter. His filmography includes appearances in Heat, Hostiles, Mystery Men, Avatar, A Million Ways to Die in the West, and the television series Penny Dreadful. In 2019, he was honored with an Academy Honorary Award, becoming the first Native American and the first Indigenous person from North America to receive such recognition from the Academy. The New York Times ranked him No. 19 on its list of the "25 Greatest Actors of the 21st Century (So Far)" in December 2020.
