Alicia Roanne Witt, born on August 21, 1975, is an American actress and musician. She gained early recognition as a child actress after being discovered by David Lynch, who cast her in the films Dune (1984) as Alia and Twin Peaks (1990) as Gersten Hayward. Witt was a regular on the sitcom Cybill from 1995 to 1998, portraying the daughter of the title character. Her acting receive critical acclaim for roles in films such as Fun (1994), where she played a disturbed teenager, and she has appeared in numerous other films including Mr. Holland's Opus (1995), Urban Legend (1998), Vanilla Sky (2001), Two Weeks Notice (2002), Last Holiday (2006), 88 Minutes (2007), I Care A Lot (2020), and Longlegs (2024). On television, she has appeared in shows such as The Walking Dead, The Sopranos, Friday Night Lights, Twin Peaks: The Return, CSI: Miami, Supernatural, Justified, and Orange Is the New Black. She also starred in five episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent as Detective Nola Falacci during Season 7. In addition to her acting career, Witt is an accomplished pianist, singer, and songwriter. She has starred in nine Hallmark Christmas films, beginning with her first in 2013, many featuring her original Christmas songs. In the 2020 Hallmark film Christmas Tree Lane, she served as executive producer and storywriter, contributing two original songs performed by her character.
