He began his career as a materials engineer before a brief period at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. In 2004, Pichai joined Google, where he led product management and innovation efforts across various projects. His responsibilities included overseeing the development of Google Chrome and ChromeOS, and he played a significant role in the creation of Google Drive. Additionally, he managed the development of applications such as Gmail and Google Maps. As of February 2026, his estimated net worth is approximately US$1.6 billion.
