Shonda Lynn Rhimes, born January 13, 1970, is an American television producer, screenwriter, and author. She is known for creating and leading several successful television series, including Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and Scandal. Rhimes became the first showrunner to create three television dramas that reached the 100 episode milestone, serving as the creator, head writer, and executive producer for these shows. She has also served as the executive producer for other series such as How to Get Away with Murder, Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, and Inventing Anna. Rhimes has received widespread recognition for her work, with five Primetime Emmy Award nominations, and she has earned a Golden Globe Award, a Daytime Emmy Award, and honors from the British Academy Television Awards and International Emmy Awards. In 2015, she was inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and in 2017 she was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.
