Amy Beth Schumer, born on June 1, 1981, is an American stand-up comedian, actress, writer, producer, and director. She began her comedy career in the early 2000s and gained wider recognition as a contestant on the fifth season of the NBC reality competition series Last Comic Standing in 2007. Schumer created, co-produced, co-wrote, and starred in the Comedy Central sketch comedy series Inside Amy Schumer from 2013 to 2016. This show received a Peabody Award and earned her five Primetime Emmy Award nominations, with a win for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series in 2015. She made her film debut with a starring role in the 2015 comedy Trainwreck, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. Schumer also starred in the comedy films Snatched in 2017 and I Feel Pretty in 2019. In 2020, she created, produced, and starred in the HBO documentary series Expecting Amy. From 2022 to 2024, she has starred in the Hulu comedy-drama series Life & Beth. Additionally, Schumer made her Broadway debut in Steve Martin's Meteor Shower, receiving a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play. She has earned two Grammy Award nominations, one for Best Comedy Album for Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo, and another for Best Spoken Word Album for narrating her memoir, The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo.
