Kate Garry Hudson, born on April 19, 1979, is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She is the daughter of singer Bill Hudson and actress Goldie Hawn. Hudson made her film debut in the 1998 drama Desert Blue and gained prominence with her role as Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe's musical drama Almost Famous in 2000. Her performance in the film earned her the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and an Academy Award nomination in the same category. Throughout the 2000s, she appeared in several romantic comedies, including How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, You, Me and Dupree, Fool's Gold, and Bride Wars. Hudson has also appeared on television, with a recurring role in the series Glee and starring roles in Truth Be Told and Running Point. Her film credits extend to The Skeleton Key, Nine, Rock the Kasbah, Deepwater Horizon, and Mother's Day.
