Robert Hepler Lowe, born March 17, 1964, is an American actor, filmmaker, and entertainment host. He gained prominence as a teen idol and a member of the Brat Pack through his roles in films during the early 1980s. Notable works include The Outsiders, Class, The Hotel New Hampshire, Oxford Blues, St. Elmo's Fire, About Last Night..., and Masquerade. Lowe's film career also features supporting roles in comedy films such as Wayne's World, Tommy Boy, and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. He later established a significant presence on television, portraying Sam Seaborn in the NBC political drama The West Wing, which earned him nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards.
