Richard D. Kahlenberg, born on June 8, 1963, is an American researcher and writer specializing in education, labor, and housing issues. He serves as Director of the American Identity Project and Director of Housing Policy at the Progressive Policy Institute. Additionally, he is a professorial lecturer at George Washington University's Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration. Kahlenberg has authored or edited twenty books and has been recognized as a significant figure in the fields of economic integration and class-based affirmative action. He is regarded as "the intellectual father of the economic integration movement" in K–12 education and is noted as "arguably the nation’s chief proponent of class-based affirmative action in higher education admissions."
