Jennifer Pahlka is an American businesswoman, author, and political advisor born on December 27, 1969. She is known for founding Code for America, where she served as the executive director. Her work with the organization emphasizes innovative approaches to government technology and digital services. Pahlka has also contributed to the federal government’s digital efforts by serving as the United States Deputy Chief Technology Officer from June 2013 to June 2014. During her time in government, she helped establish the United States Digital Service. Before her government roles, she worked at CMP Media in various capacities within the computer game industry and served as the co-chair and general manager of the Web 2.0 conferences. In June 2023, she published a book titled Recoding America: Why Government Is Failing in the Digital Age and How We Can Do Better, exploring issues related to government technology and digital transformation.
