Nitin Sawhney: podcast appearances and interviews

Nitin Sawhney, born in 1964, is a British musician, producer, and composer known for blending Asian and other global influences with electronic music. His work often explores themes related to multiculturalism, politics, and spirituality. Sawhney has received multiple international awards during his career, including the Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement award in 2017. He has collaborated with a diverse array of artists such as Paul McCartney, Sting, David Gilmour, and Joss Stone, and has performed with orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra. Sawhney has also scored for various media and performed extensively worldwide, establishing an international reputation across multiple artistic domains. Beyond his musical pursuits, he has held roles such as chair of the PRS Foundation, trustee of the theatre company Complicité, and patron of film festivals, venues, and educational institutions. In 2021, he served as an ambassador for the Royal Albert Hall. He often appears as an artist in residence, curator, or musical director at international festivals, and contributes to musical education through roles such as a patron of the British Government's Access-to-music program and the East London Film Festival. Sawhney has been a judge for awards like the Ivor Novello, BAFTA, and BIFA, and currently holds the position of Patron for the PRS Foundation. He has received seven honorary doctorates and is a fellow of LIPA and Southbank University. Although he declined an OBE in 2007, he accepted a CBE in 2019 for personal reasons.
