Michael Richard Pompeo, born on December 30, 1963, is an American politician, attorney, diplomat, and author of the book 'Never Give An Inch.' He served in the first administration of Donald Trump as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2017 to 2018 and as the 70th United States secretary of state from 2018 to 2021. Pompeo represented Kansas's 4th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 2011 to 2017. He was born in Orange, California, and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1986 after completing five years of service as a U.S. Army officer. Following his military service, Pompeo attended Harvard Law School and worked as an attorney until 1998 before becoming an entrepreneur in the aerospace and oilfield industries. As a member of the Republican Party, he initially criticized Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign but later endorsed him after Trump became the Republican nominee.
