Martha Wright was an American shamanic medicine woman, healer, and guide. She was born Martha Lucile Wiederrecht on March 23, 1923, in Seattle. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to practicing and sharing healing and spiritual guidance. Wright's early experiences as a performer included singing on the radio and acting in musical theatre and opera during her teenage years. She moved to New York City where she made her Broadway debut at the age of 21. She gained recognition as a replacement for Mary Martin in productions such as South Pacific and The Sound of Music. In addition to her theatre work, Wright continued to perform on radio and later transitioned to television, including hosting her own show in the mid-1950s. Although she scaled back her performance activities by the late 1960s, she made occasional returns to the stage and screen during the 1970s and 1980s. Wright's career spanned multiple entertainment mediums, and she was known for her vocal talent and stage presence. Later in her life, she devoted herself to her role as a healer and guide, sharing her knowledge of shamanic medicine.
