Lily Chloe Ninette Thomson, known professionally as Lily James, is an English actress born on April 5, 1989. She studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Her career began with a role in the British television series Just William in 2010. She gained further recognition through her supporting role in the period drama series Downton Abbey, which she appeared in from 2012 to 2015. Her breakthrough came with her portrayal of the title character in the fantasy film Cinderella in 2015. Lily James has since starred in a variety of film and television projects, including the television adaptation of War & Peace in 2016 and films such as Baby Driver, Darkest Hour, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The Dig, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Yesterday, and The Iron Claw. In 2022, she portrayed Pamela Anderson in the biographical series Pam & Tommy, a performance for which she received nominations for a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award.
