Keegan-Michael Key, born on March 22, 1971, is an American actor, comedian, producer, and writer. He is known for co-creating and co-starring in the sketch series Key & Peele from 2012 to 2015, for which he received one Primetime Emmy Award from ten nominations. His television portfolio also includes work on Mad TV from 2004 to 2009, the sitcom Playing House from 2014 to 2017, the series Friends from College from 2017 to 2019, and Reboot in 2022. Additionally, he appeared in the first season of Fargo alongside Jordan Peele in 2014 and held a recurring role on Parks and Recreation from 2013 to 2015. Key starred in the musical comedy series Schmigadoon! from 2021 to 2023. Outside of television, he has supported roles in several films including Horrible Bosses 2, Pitch Perfect 2, Don't Think Twice, Dolemite Is My Name, The Prom, and Wonka. His voice acting work includes roles in The Lego Movie, the Hotel Transylvania franchise, Storks, The Angry Birds Movie, The Star, Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers, Wendell & Wild, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Migration, IF, and Transformers One. He has also lent his voice to Disney projects such as Toy Story 4 and the live-action remakes of The Lion King and Pinocchio. Key has appeared at events like the White House Correspondents’ Dinner as his Key & Peele character Luther and co-produced the 2016 action-comedy film Keanu. He made his Broadway debut in the play Meteor Shower in 2017 and has hosted shows such as The Planet's Funniest Animals and Game On! He is also set to voice Toad in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in 2026.
