Jon Bernthal is an American actor born on September 20, 1976. He gained recognition for his role as Shane Walsh on the AMC horror drama series The Walking Dead from 2010 to 2012. Bernthal further established his presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by portraying Frank Castle or The Punisher starting in the second season of Daredevil in 2016. He starred in his own spin-off series The Punisher which aired from 2017 to 2019. In addition to his television work, Bernthal has appeared in numerous films including World Trade Center, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, The Wolf of Wall Street, Fury, Sicario, The Accountant, Baby Driver, Ford v Ferrari, King Richard, The Accountant 2, and The Odyssey. He also starred in the HBO miniseries We Own This City in 2022 as Wayne Jenkins and in Hulu's The Bear from 2022 to 2026 as Michael Berzatto. His performance in The Bear earned him a Primetime Emmy Award. Bernthal made his Broadway debut in Dog Day Afternoon from March to July 2026. His diverse roles across television, film, and theater demonstrate his versatility as an actor.
