John Christopher Reilly is an American actor born on May 24, 1965. He is recognized as a character actor for his work spanning both independent films and major studio productions. Reilly has received various accolades and is notable for being one of only two individuals to have been nominated for an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award, without winning any of these awards. His acting career began in the late 1980s, and he gained recognition through supporting roles in films such as Casualties of War, Days of Thunder, Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Gangs of New York, and The Aviator. He received critical praise and nominations for his role in the musical film Chicago. Greater recognition came from his performances in comedy films including Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and Step Brothers.
