About Jennifer Doudna
Jennifer Anne Doudna is an American biochemist known for her pioneering work in CRISPR gene editing and significant contributions to biochemistry and genetics. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2020, alongside Emmanuelle Charpentier, for developing a method for genome editing. Doudna holds the Li Ka Shing Chancellor's Chair Professorship at the University of California, Berkeley, and has been an investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since 1997. In 2012, she and Charpentier first proposed that CRISPR-Cas9 enzymes from bacteria could be used for programmable genome editing, an advancement widely regarded as one of the most important discoveries in biology.
