Viet Thanh Nguyen: podcast appearances and interviews

Viet Thanh Nguyen is a Vietnamese-born American novelist and professor. He holds the Aerol Arnold Chair of English and serves as a Professor of English and American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. Nguyen's debut novel, The Sympathizer, earned numerous awards including the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, and the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. His achievements have been recognized through awards such as a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship and a Guggenheim Fellowship awarded in 2017. Besides his literary accomplishments, Nguyen is a regular op-ed contributor to The New York Times, where he writes about topics such as immigration, refugees, politics, culture, and Southeast Asia. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and was notably the first Asian American elected to the Pulitzer Prize Board in its 103-year history in 2020. In 2023, Nguyen made history again as the first Asian American to headline the Charles Eliot Norton Lecture Series at Harvard University.
