Jemele Hill: podcast appearances and interviews

Jemele Juanita Hill is an American sports journalist and author, known for her work in various media outlets and her contributions to discussions on sports and society. She has worked for the Raleigh News & Observer, the Detroit Free Press, and the Orlando Sentinel. Hill joined ESPN in 2006, where she held multiple roles until 2013. She succeeded Jalen Rose as the host of ESPN2's Numbers Never Lie, which was later rebranded as His & Hers, co-hosted with Michael Smith. Hill and Smith also co-hosted SC6, the 6 p.m. edition of ESPN's flagship SportsCenter, from 2017 to 2018. She gained attention for her outspoken commentary, notably a series of tweets in 2017 criticizing President Donald Trump, which included describing him as a white supremacist. Her social media activity led to a two-week suspension following a second violation of ESPN's social media policies. Hill has received recognition for her journalistic work, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding News Special in 2017 for The President and The People, an ABC News Special. After leaving ESPN, she contributed to The Atlantic and co-hosted Vice's Cari & Jemele (Won't) Stick to Sports from August 2020 to February 2021. In addition to her journalism career, Hill is the co-founder of Lodge Freeway Media, a film and production company, and published her autobiography titled Uphill: A Memoir in 2022.
