Jason Edwin Chaffetz, born on March 26, 1967, is a retired American politician who served as the United States representative for Utah's 3rd congressional district from 2009 until 2017. He is known for his role as the chair of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, a position he held from 2015 until his resignation in 2017. During his tenure, Chaffetz gained prominence through his investigations into Hillary Clinton and was actively involved in scrutiny of the Obama administration. In 2015, he conducted extensive investigations into Clinton's activities and publicly addressed the Clinton email controversy. In the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, Chaffetz initially rescinded his endorsement of Donald Trump in October but expressed his intent to vote for him shortly thereafter. In 2017, Chaffetz resigned from Congress six months into his fifth term.
