Hong Chau: podcast appearances and interviews

Hong Chau, born on June 25, 1979, is an American actress with Vietnamese roots. She was born to Vietnamese parents who lived in a refugee camp in Thailand after fleeing Vietnam in the late 1970s. Her family was sponsored to move to the United States by a Vietnamese Catholic church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Chau grew up in New Orleans and pursued a major in film studies at Boston University College of Communication. She made her acting debut in the 2010 television series Treme and appeared in the film Inherent Vice in 2014. Chau gained recognition with her role in the 2017 film Downsizing, earning several supporting-actress award nominations. She continued to build her career with supporting roles in television series such as Homecoming, where she progressed from a supporting role in 2018 to a starring role in 2020, and guest appearances including in Watchmen and other series. Her recent work includes supporting roles in films such as Showing Up, The Menu, and The Whale in 2022. Her performance in The Whale garnered her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In addition to her film work, she appeared in the limited series Watchmen and had a main role in the 2023 television series The Night Agent.
