James Gunn: podcast appearances and interviews

James Francis Gunn Jr. is an American filmmaker born on August 5, 1966. He began his career as a screenwriter in the mid-1990s, initially working at Troma Entertainment on the film Tromeo and Juliet. Gunn transitioned into directing with the horror-comedy film Slither in 2006 and subsequently expanded into the superhero genre with works such as Super, Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, The Suicide Squad, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In 2022, he was appointed co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios by Warner Bros. Discovery, alongside Peter Safran. In this role, he has been involved in the production and executive production of numerous films and television series within the DC Universe, which serves as a soft reboot of the DC Extended Universe. Gunn is credited with creating the series Creature Commandos and serving as the writer-director of the film Superman. His other notable work includes writing and directing the web series James Gunn's PG Porn, the HBO Max series Peacemaker, and the Disney+ special The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Gunn’s writing contributions extend to films such as the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead, Scooby-Doo and its sequel, and the horror-action film The Belko Experiment. Additionally, he has produced the superhero-horror film Brightburn and contributed to projects like Movie 43 and the video game Lollipop Chainsaw.
