Elie Wiesel: podcast appearances and interviews

Elie Wiesel was a Romanian-born American writer, professor, and political activist who survived the Holocaust. He authored 57 books, with most written in French and English, including the notable work Night, which is based on his experiences as a Jewish prisoner at Auschwitz and Buchenwald. Wiesel was a prominent speaker on Holocaust remembrance and used his platform to advocate for justice across various causes worldwide. His activism extended to issues involving Soviet Jews, Ethiopian Jews, South African apartheid, and multiple genocides including those in Rwanda, Bosnia, Cambodia, and others. He was also an outspoken supporter of Israel, often commenting on Arab-Israeli conflicts and advocating for the country’s interests, including involvement in discussions aimed at Israeli-Palestinian peace. In addition to his activism, Wiesel served as a professor of the humanities at Boston University. The university established the Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies in his honor. Throughout his life, he received numerous awards, most notably the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. Wiesel was a founding board member of the Human Rights Foundation and played a key role in establishing the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1993, cementing his legacy as a leading voice in Holocaust remembrance and human rights advocacy.
