Damon Graham Devereux Hill is a British former racing driver and broadcaster known for competing in Formula One from 1992 to 1999. He won the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 1996 with Williams and secured 22 Grand Prix victories across eight seasons. Born and raised in London, Hill is the son of two-time Formula One World Champion Graham Hill. He began his racing career on motorbikes in 1981 before transitioning to single-seater racing cars. Hill became a test driver for Williams in 1992 and was promoted to the race team in 1993 following Riccardo Patrese's departure. His first Grand Prix victory came at the 1993 Hungarian Grand Prix. During the mid-1990s, Hill was a primary competitor to Michael Schumacher for the championship and they had notable on-track clashes, including a collision at the 1994 Australian Grand Prix which contributed to Schumacher winning his first title. Hill claimed the 1996 championship with eight wins but was dropped by Williams afterward. He then drove for less competitive teams such as Arrows and Jordan, the latter of which he helped secure Jordan's first race win in 1998. Hill retired from racing after the 1999 season. In 2006, he became president of the British Racing Drivers' Club, a position he held until 2011. His tenure included negotiations that resulted in a long-term contract for Silverstone to host Formula One races, facilitating renovations of the circuit. He later worked as an expert analyst supporting Sky Sports F1 broadcasts during free practice sessions.
