Claire Elizabeth Foy is a British actress born on 16 April 1984. She is widely recognized for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix series The Crown, which aired in multiple seasons and earned her awards including a Golden Globe and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Foy made her screen debut in the pilot of the supernatural comedy series Being Human in 2008 and also made her professional stage debut at the Royal National Theatre. She played the title role in the BBC One miniseries Little Dorrit and made her film debut in the American fantasy drama Season of the Witch. She gained further recognition through leading television roles in The Promise and Crossbones, and received praise for her portrayal of Queen Anne Boleyn in the BBC miniseries Wolf Hall, earning a BAFTA nomination. In 2018, she starred in Steven Soderbergh's psychological thriller Unsane and portrayed Janet Shearon, wife of astronaut Neil Armstrong, in Damien Chazelle's film First Man. Foy continued her career with roles such as Margaret Campbell in the Amazon Prime series A Very British Scandal and appeared in the films Women Talking and All of Us Strangers.
