Robert James Bruce was an American professional baseball player born on May 16, 1933, in New York, New York. He was a right-handed pitcher who appeared in 219 Major League Baseball games from 1959 to 1967. Bruce played for the Detroit Tigers, Houston Colt .45s later known as the Houston Astros, and the Atlanta Braves. He was raised in Detroit, Michigan, by adoptive parents after being born in New York. Bruce graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Alma College. He was known for his height of 6 feet 3 inches and his playing weight of 200 pounds. Bruce's career in Major League Baseball spanned nine seasons, during which he contributed to multiple teams as a pitcher.
