Jeanne Bates was an American actress known for her work in radio, film, and television. She began her career performing in radio serials before signing a contract with Columbia Pictures in 1942. Her film career included a range of roles, from small parts to more significant characters, particularly in horror films and film noir. Notable films she appeared in include The Return of the Vampire (1943) and Shadows in the Night (1946). In her later years, Bates collaborated with director David Lynch on his films Eraserhead (1977) and Mulholland Drive (2001). Her appearance in Mulholland Drive was her final film credit before her death in 2007.
