Betsy McCaughey: podcast appearances and interviews

Elizabeth Helen McCaughey, born on October 20, 1948, is an American politician affiliated with New York. She served as the lieutenant governor of New York from 1995 to 1998 under Governor George Pataki. Following her tenure, she sought the Democratic Party nomination for governor after Pataki dropped her from his 1998 ticket. She appeared on the ballot under the Liberal Party line that year. In addition to her political career, McCaughey has been a fellow at the Manhattan Institute and Hudson Institute, two conservative think tanks. She has authored numerous articles and op-eds on various topics. McCaughey was also involved in the corporate sector, serving on the boards of medical equipment companies Genta and Cantel Medical Corporation, though she resigned from these positions in 2009 to avoid conflicts of interest related to her public advocacy against the Affordable Care Act. In 2016, she publicly joined Donald Trump's presidential campaign as an economic adviser. In 2026, she was an unsuccessful candidate for governor of Connecticut.
