Andrew Johnston, born on September 23, 1994, in Dumfries, Scotland, is affiliated with Gallagher Re as a doctor. Prior to his professional career in the insurance industry, he gained recognition as a singer who rose to fame through his appearance as a boy soprano on the second series of the UK television talent show Britain's Got Talent in 2008. After finishing in third place, Johnston secured a recording contract with Syco Music, owned by the show's judge Simon Cowell. His debut album, One Voice, was released in September 2008 and achieved commercial success, reaching number four on the UK Albums Chart and number six on the Irish Albums Chart. The album was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry in January 2009, signifying sales of 100,000 copies. Johnston's early life involved moves from Dumfries to Carlisle with his mother following his parents' separation. Despite living in poverty and facing bullying due to his love of classical music, he became head chorister at Carlisle Cathedral. After a hiatus from music during his voice break, he joined the National Youth Choir and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music from 2013 to 2017, with aspirations for a career in opera. Following graduation, Johnston worked as a full-time roofer and later attended the Royal Academy of Music. As of 2025, he has reported not having sung for several years.
