Andrew Wegman Bird, born July 11, 1973, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. His musical work encompasses various genres including swing music, indie rock, and folk music. He is known for his distinctive style of violin playing, utilizing loop and effect pedals, along with whistling and vocals. During the 1990s, Bird performed as a singer and violinist in several jazz ensembles such as Squirrel Nut Zippers and Kevin O'Donnell's Quality Six. He later founded his own swing ensemble, Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire, which produced three albums between 1998 and 2001. Following the disbandment of Bowl of Fire, Bird released Weather Systems in 2003, marking his transition from jazz to indie music.
