Alex Garland: podcast appearances and interviews

Alex Garland is an English author and filmmaker affiliated with A24. He gained prominence with his debut novel The Beach in 1996. Garland has written screenplays for several notable films, including the Danny Boyle-directed 28 Days Later and its sequel, 28 Years Later, as well as Sunshine, Never Let Me Go, and Dredd. His contributions extend to video games, where he co-wrote Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and served as a story supervisor on DmC: Devil May Cry. In 2014, Garland made his directorial debut with the science fiction thriller Ex Machina, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay and won three British Independent Film Awards, including those for Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best British Independent Film. Following this, he directed films such as Annihilation in 2018, Men in 2022, and Civil War in 2024. He also co-directed the war film Warfare in 2025 and was involved as a writer, director, and executive producer for the FX miniseries Devs, released in 2020.
