However, this clearly wasn’t the case, as he started exhibiting really strange behaviors, as one family member said he would stare at the Christmas tree for hours because he thought it was moving. Even with his mental health issues, he continued to hold down steady employment, as members of the community generally liked him. But Juan’s undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia caused several delusions in his twisted mind, as he felt random strangers were trying to cast spells on him, so he felt he had to do something about it.

  Denis Kazunga had rented a property in Kigali, Rwanda, but he hadn’t paid rent for seven months. There was already an odd suspicion around him, as several women had escaped from his house with their lives. They had reported these incidents to the village leader, but they were ignored. Denis wouldn’t allow the landlord to come into his house to start the eviction process, so he called the police. Once they were able to search the residence, they quickly understood why Denis was so hesitant to let him in.

  On October 4, 2009 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Harnek Mahal came home from his job as a long haul tracker to find his girlfriend, Simmi Khalon, lying face down on the floor of her bedroom, motionless. The coroner ruled her death not to be suspicious, as it was due to complications from childbirth, which confused Harnek because Simmi told him that she had a abortion several months ago. The next day, Harnek called the police again, saying he found a suitcase in a garbage bag. The nauseating smell along with the presence of blood drops raised his suspicions. When the medical examiner arrived to open the suitcase, what she found inside was extremely horrifying, as this case left more questions than answers.

  John Balaban: Savagery at the Sunshine Cafe

  John Balaban was a man with obvious mental health issues, but they would fatally go undiagnosed. After his father’s suicide, John began to study philosphy, claiming to be an atheist, while also claiming God had appeared to him in a dream. He fled to France to escape the Soviet takeover of his native Romania, where he met a woman and they went back to her apartment. For no reason, John strangled her to death in the bedroom and fled the scene. He was able to avoid capture, emigrating to Australia during the post WWII boom. After essentially getting away with murder, John’s new situation down under wasn’t that much better, as four more innocent people would fall victim to his hidden personality.
