Episode #45
Bob Muzikowski knew how to coach baseball. So when he saw children near Chicago’s Cabrini-Green neighborhood who needed steady adults in their lives, he started a team. That decision grew into a Little League program, helped inspire the film Hardball , and eventually led Bob and his wife, Tina, to help establish Chicago Hope Academy. In Episode 45 of the 100X Podcast, Lloyd Reeb and Micah Lacher talk with Bob about living close to the people you hope to serve, using your business skills and resources for their good, and staying involved when the work gets hard. Bob’s story leaves us with a practical question: What do you already know how to do, and who could it help? Learn more about 100X Forum: https://100xforum.org/

Episode #44
Bob Muzikowski’s work helped inspire the movie Hardball, starring Keanu Reeves. But the real story goes far beyond a baseball team. After moving near one of Chicago’s most dangerous housing projects, Bob began playing baseball with children in the neighborhood. What started with a few kids grew into one of the largest inner-city Little League programs in the country. Bob later helped establish Chicago Hope Academy, a Christian college and life-preparatory school serving students on Chicago’s West Side.In this episode of the 100X Podcast, Bob shares why lasting change requires more than good intentions or donations. It requires presence, relationships, sacrifice and a willingness to move toward people and places others would rather avoid. We discuss faith in action, building trust in struggling communities, using business experience for a greater purpose and why you do not have to fix an entire city to make a meaningful difference. Sometimes change begins with one baseball field, one school or one adult who refuses to leave.Bob’s story challenges us to stop waiting for someone else to solve the problems in front of us and ask a more personal question: What can I do with what I already have?Subscribe to the 100X Podcast for more conversations about faith, leadership, generosity and using your life to create lasting impact. The 100X Podcast is sponsored by Anchor Investments, whose mission is to build America’s most generous real estate company. https://youtu.be/P4iukEZsvG8

Episode #43
What happens when you build the company you dreamed about, only to discover that time was the one resource you could never replace? Angel Alvarez spent more than three decades helping grow an optical wholesale business into a $1.5 billion organization. He entered an established industry as competitor number 48, helped consolidate and transform that industry, and eventually led a company with approximately 1,700 employees. He describes the journey as a “30-year overnight success.” Behind that success were thousands of decisions, years of disciplined work, calculated risks, acquisitions, leadership changes, and a willingness to keep moving when the outcome was uncertain. Angel’s faith and the example of his mother gave him the courage to take risks without allowing fear to control him. Then life changed. After the company was sold to private equity, Angel remained as CEO. During that season, his wife was diagnosed with stage-three bladder cancer. He stepped away from the daily operation of the company to care for her, and nine months later, she passed away. In a short period of time, Angel lost his wife and stepped away from the business that had occupied much of his adult life. That experience forced him to examine the cost of success, the difference between what is valuable and what is priceless, and the danger of assuming there will always be more time. In this conversation, Angel shares why every achievement carries a cost, how leaders can build teams that allow them to step away from daily operations, why your career cannot become your entire identity, and how he now brings the same intentionality he once gave his company to his daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, faith, and relationships. Ambition and achievement still matter. The deeper challenge is deciding how much is enough, making room for the people you love, and building a life you will still value after the job title is gone. Subscribe to the 100X Podcast for more honest conversations about success, significance, faith, leadership, and building a life that creates an impact far beyond business.

Episode #42
Angel Alvarez helped build a $1.5 billion organization. But his most important lessons came when the life he had carefully built suddenly changed. Born in Havana, Cuba, Angel came to America following the Castro revolution. He eventually entered corporate America, learned how large companies build new ventures, and used those lessons to launch his own business. What began as the 48th competitor in its field grew over three decades through acquisitions, organic growth, and a willingness to think bigger. Then Angel’s wife was diagnosed with stage-three bladder cancer. He stepped away from his role as CEO to care for her. Nine months later, she passed away. Angel was left grieving the loss of his wife while also facing life outside the company he founded. In this conversation, Angel shares how faith helped him overcome fear, what building a major company required, and why success always carries a cost. He also explains how he rebuilt his life around family, faith, and the things that cannot be measured in dollars. This episode is an honest conversation about ambition, identity, grief, leadership, and the danger of assuming we will always have more time.
