Woodrow Tracy Harrelson, born on July 23, 1961, is an American actor known for his diverse roles in film and television. He gained prominence through his portrayal of Woody Boyd, a naive bartender on the NBC sitcom Cheers from 1985 to 1993, a role that earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series after five nominations. Harrelson's career includes three Academy Award nominations: for Best Actor in The People versus Larry Flynt (1996) and for Best Supporting Actor in The Messenger (2009) and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017).
