Martin Hayter Short, born March 26, 1950, is a Canadian comedian, actor, and writer recognized for his energetic performances in sketch comedy. He gained prominence through his work on the television programs SCTV and Saturday Night Live, where he created memorable characters such as Jiminy Glick and Ed Grimley. Short has also appeared in numerous films and television shows across various genres. His stage career includes starring roles in Broadway productions such as Neil Simon's The Goodbye Girl and Little Me. The latter earned him a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, while The Goodbye Girl received a nomination in the same category. His filmography features comedy films including Three Amigos, Innerspace, Father of the Bride, and Mars Attacks! among others. He has provided voice acting in several animated features and series, notably The Pebble and the Penguin, The Prince of Egypt, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, and The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! Short's television work extends to series like Mulaney, Maya & Marty, and The Morning Show, demonstrating his versatility across comedy and drama.
