Wesley Trent Snipes, born on July 31, 1962, is an American actor, martial artist, author, and film producer with a career spanning over forty years. He has appeared in a wide range of genres including thrillers, dramas, comedies, and especially action films, and is best known for his role as Blade, the Marvel Comics superhero. Snipes has been recognized with various awards, including a Volpi Cup for Best Actor for his performance in the film One Night Stand and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for The Waterdance. His filmography includes notable performances in movies such as Major League, Mo' Better Blues, King of New York, and New Jack City, which gained him prominence. He also starred in Jungle Fever, White Men Can't Jump, Passenger 57, and established his action star reputation with roles in Demolition Man, Rising Sun, Money Train, and U.S. Marshals. In 1998, he was cast as Eric Brooks in the superhero film Blade, a role he reprised in multiple sequels and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). Besides acting, Snipes has produced films through his company Amen-Ra Films and its subsidiary Black Dot Media.
