Vivica Anjanetta Fox, born on July 30, 1964, is an American actress and producer with a career spanning several decades. She began her entertainment career appearing on Soul Train from 1982 to 1983 and subsequently played roles in daytime soap operas such as Days of Our Lives and Generations. Her work in prime time includes starring opposite Patti LaBelle in the NBC sitcom Out All Night. Fox's breakthrough came in 1996 with prominent roles in the box-office hits Independence Day and Set It Off. She has appeared in numerous films including Booty Call, Soul Food, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, and Kill Bill. Fox has also taken on supporting roles in movies like Ella Enchanted and has held leading roles in television series such as the Fox sitcom Getting Personal and the CBS medical drama City of Angels. From 2003 to 2006, she co-starred in and produced the Lifetime crime drama series Missing, earning an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series. Her work extends to more than 25 Lifetime movies in the Wrong... series and a role as Candace Mason in the television series Empire. Beyond acting, Fox has produced numerous films and television shows; she made her directorial debut in 2023 with First Lady of BMF: The Tonesa Welch Story, a biographical crime film about the first lady of the Black Mafia Family in Detroit.
