Tom Frieden: podcast appearances and interviews

Thomas R. Frieden is an American infectious disease and public health physician. He has served as the president and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives, a global initiative launched in 2017 with the aim of preventing epidemics and cardiovascular disease. The organization became an independent non-profit in 2022. Frieden was previously the director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and served as the administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry from 2009 to 2017 during the administration of President Barack Obama. Prior to his federal roles, he was the commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene from 2002 to 2009. During his tenure as New York City Health Commissioner, Frieden gained prominence for implementing public health measures such as banning smoking in restaurants and restricting the serving of trans fats. His career has been marked by efforts to improve public health policies and respond to infectious diseases at both city and national levels.
