Stephen Douglas Kerr is an American professional basketball coach and former player who serves as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Kerr is recognized as one of the most accurate three-point shooters in NBA history and holds the record for the highest career three-point percentage. As a player, he won five NBA championships;three with the Chicago Bulls and two with the San Antonio Spurs;and retired with notable records in three-point shooting. Kerr played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats, where he was a two-time first-team all-conference player and earned All-American honors in his senior year. During the 1987–88 NCAA season, he set the single-season record for three-point field goal percentage at 57.3 percent. Selected in the second round of the 1988 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns, Kerr played for 15 seasons in the league. After retiring as a player, he became a minority owner of the Suns as part of a group led by Robert Sarver and served as the team's president of basketball operations and general manager before stepping down in 2010. Kerr then worked as a color commentator for NBA on TNT until 2014. In May 2014, he was appointed head coach of the Golden State Warriors. Under his leadership, the franchise achieved significant success, reaching the NBA Finals six times and winning four championships, including an NBA record 73-win season in 2015-16. Kerr is also a former head coach of the U.S. national team and is considered one of the 15 Greatest Coaches in NBA History.
